For this table, a percentile is a position in the cited NHANES reference distribution for adults of the same sex and published age group. The 50th percentile is the median. These cross-sectional values describe a reference distribution; they are not a personal forecast, target, diagnosis, or recommendation.

Measurement: NCHS marked the 95th-percentile estimate with a dagger because its standard error could not be computed; the 95th percentile was not published and is omitted here.
