Boys' Height Chart by Age, Birth to 20 Years

This page lists the boys' height reference values for every age the site covers, from 1 week to 20 years, in three tables. Under 2 years the values are WHO recumbent length (measured lying down); from 2 years they are CDC standing height. All values are in centimeters, with the median also in feet and inches.

What the table shows

The WHO median length for boys rises from 49.9 cm at birth to 75.7 cm at 12 months, a gain of 25.8 cm in the first year, and to 87.8 cm at 24 months, another 12.1 cm in the second year.

In the CDC table the 12-month gain in the median is 8.4 cm from age 2, falls to 4.9 cm from 9 years 7 months, climbs back to 7.8 cm from 12 years 9 months, and stays under 1 cm from 16 years 11 months on. The median at 20 is 176.8 cm (5 ft 9.6 in).

The 3rd-to-97th range is narrowest at 2 years (13.2 cm) and widest at 13 years 9 months (30.3 cm). The girls' median is above the boys' from 10 years 9 months to 13 years 2 months; at every other age in the CDC table the boys' median is higher.
