Remaining growth depends more on biological maturity than on a birthday, so no age table can measure exactly how many inches you have left. These complete tables do something narrower and transparent: for every age from 8 through 20, they reproduce the same sex-specific completion factor used by this site's calculator, apply it to the CDC 50th-percentile height at that age, and show the modeled growth left and adult estimate in both metric and imperial units.

Data and calculation: “CDC 50th height” comes from the National Center for Health Statistics Growth Charts Data Files and official stature-for-age CSV. “Model complete” reproduces the site's growthFrac() factors exactly: boys 72%, 75%, 78%, 81%, 84%, 87%, 91%, 95%, 98%, 99%, then 100%; girls 77%, 80%, 84%, 88%, 92%, 95%, 97%, 98.5%, 99.5%, then 100%. These are the calculator's fixed CDC-style approximation, not CDC-published clinical percentages. Growth left equals CDC median height ÷ model fraction − CDC median height; adult estimate is CDC median height ÷ model fraction.
How to use the table with your own height
The CDC-height row is a worked example for someone at the 50th percentile. To use your measurement, turn the completion percentage into a decimal, divide your current height by it, then subtract your current height. A 14-year-old boy at 170cm uses 0.91: 170 ÷ 0.91 gives a model estimate of 186.8cm, and 186.8 − 170 gives 16.8cm remaining. Use the same unit throughout.
To test a target, first calculate the gap. Growing from 5'7" to 6'0" means moving from 170.2cm to 182.9cm, a gain of 12.7cm or 5 inches. The fixed model leaves that much room for a typical 14-year-old boy but not a typical 15-year-old boy. That distinction is a model output, not permission to expect or promise the target.
Do not compare your current height with the table's “growth left” while ignoring the CDC median-height column. The remaining amount changes with the starting height because the calculation uses a fraction. The age row is also not a substitute for puberty stage: two people with the same birthday and height may have very different biological maturity.
Why age alone is a rough predictor
Puberty is the main reason averages miss individuals. Someone who matures early may have already completed more of adult height than the age factor assumes; a late maturer may have more left. The calculator asks about puberty because shifting the completion factor can change the projection more than rounding a height measurement ever will.
Growth is also uneven. A person may gain height quickly during a spurt and very little in another year. Comparing two careful measurements at least several months apart gives growth velocity, which is more informative than repeatedly measuring over a few days. Posture and time of day can move a home height reading without representing bone growth.
Parents' heights supply a separate genetic center. Health history, long-term nutrition, hormone conditions, chronic illness and some medicines can affect whether a person follows an expected curve. Ordinary food, sleep and exercise support health, but no supplement, stretch or routine can guarantee reaching a chosen height.
Limits and when to seek a real assessment
The tables are statistical estimates, not measurements of remaining bone growth. They have not been clinically validated for an individual and cannot replace a pediatrician. The completion factors are deliberately identical to the live calculator so the page and tool do not contradict one another, but they are still a simplified age-and-sex model rather than official CDC percentile outputs.
The 100% entries mean the simple calculator stops projecting additional height at those ages; they do not prove every person's growth plates have closed on that birthday. If growth appears unexpectedly slow or fast, puberty is unusually early or late, or a target-height concern is causing distress, discuss the pattern with a clinician. A pediatrician can review serial measurements and family history; when medically appropriate, bone-age imaging can add information that this table cannot observe.

Divide current height by the completion fraction shown as a decimal to get the model's adult estimate, then subtract current height. For example, 91% becomes 0.91. Keep centimeters with centimeters or inches with inches.
Can a remaining-growth chart replace a bone-age assessment?
No. This is an unvalidated statistical estimate based on age and sex, not a measurement of growth plates. A clinician may use growth history, puberty assessment and, when appropriate, a hand-and-wrist X-ray to evaluate remaining growth.
